Pancake ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This page explains what information Pancake collects, how we use it, what AI features send, and what controls users have across the app.

Information we collect

  • Account information such as email address, name, and sign-in details
  • Profile information you choose to add, including quiz results and partner-related details
  • Content you submit for AI features, including text, optional context, and relevant profile signals used to generate the response you requested
  • Subscription and purchase-verification data needed to unlock paid features
  • Local app data such as settings, streaks, check-ins, saved phrases, and cached history

How we collect information

  • Directly from you when you create an account, use AI features, complete quizzes, add profile details, or use in-app tools
  • Automatically through app use, such as usage counts, subscription status, and settings needed for functionality
  • From Apple or platform services when required for sign-in, payments, and purchase verification

How we use your information

  • To create and manage your account and authenticate you
  • To personalize translation, decode, chat, coaching, and other relationship tools when relevant
  • To maintain account history, sync server-backed features, and enforce usage limits
  • To verify subscriptions, restore purchases, and secure the service
  • To provide AI-powered results only after you give in-app permission for AI data sharing

AI features and third-party processing

AI tools stay off until you allow AI data sharing in the app. If you choose to use AI features, Pancake may send the text you enter, optional context, and relevant profile signals through Pancake to the AI providers handling the request.

  • AI requests are used to generate the result you asked for and to support continuity for AI-backed features when applicable
  • If you do not give permission, AI features remain off and non-AI features continue to work
  • We require service providers handling this data to protect it with safeguards comparable to our own privacy and security standards

Data storage and security

Pancake uses both on-device and server-side storage. Some information stays on your device for app functionality, while account data and content needed for server-backed features may be transmitted to and stored on our systems.

  • Local data can include settings, streaks, saved phrases, check-ins, and cached history
  • Server-backed data can include account records, profile data, AI request content, chat history, and summaries used for continuity
  • We use technical and organizational safeguards, but no transmission or storage method is 100% secure

Data retention and deletion

We retain account and server-backed data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service.

  • You can delete your account from the app, which deletes your account and related server-side records
  • You can clear local app data directly in the app
  • You can export the data available through the privacy dashboard

Pancake is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
